The Irish Naval Service is an integral part of the Irish Defence Forces. With a complement of 1,094 men and women drawn from the 32 counties of Ireland the Naval Service is based on Haulbowline Island in lower Cork Harbour.
The Navy is responsible for the protection of Irelands maritime jurisdiction and is the countries principal sea going agency with a complement of 9 ships.
