Short Description of the Company:

Instrotec Ltd was founded in the year 2000 by Donal and Donna Johnston. This move came after Donal, a time served Electrician with extensive Instrumentation and Control experience, had identified an opportunity in the market for a specialist contractor in the field of Electrical Instrumentation and Instrument Pipefitting. By coupling this specialist expertise with the provision of traditional Industrial Electrical Systems, Instrotec quickly established a reputation in the growing Pharmaceutical and Micro Processor manufacturing sectors as the foremost contractor in the provision of Instrumentation and Control’s systems.

In recent years Instrotec has expanded on its existing Electrical portfolio to establish a proven track record in the installation of various LV and MV electrical systems across a broad range of sectors and to the highest of industry standards. Through strengthening this branch of the company, Instrotec has become uniquely positioned to provide an all-encompassing service across Instrumentation and Control, Building Management, and Industrial Electrical systems.

Over the past 20+ Years, Instrotec has become a leading provider of Instrumentation and Electrical services within the commercial and industrial sectors, both in Ireland and Europe alike.

Details of Apprenticeship Opportunities:

Instrotec is one of the countries largest Electrical and Electrical Instrumentation apprentice employers.
We have 150+ apprentices in our program currently, and we plan on expanding that number by circa 100 over the next 12 months.

Upon successful completion of an apprenticeship, apprentices are awarded a Further Education and Training Awards (FETAC) National Craft Certificate. This certificate has national and international recognition, and it is a compulsory requirement for craft persons status.

Instrotec pride itself heavily in terms of our apprenticeship program and supporting apprenticeship throughout the program and beyond. This can be seen in our crews on the ground where a lot of supervision have served the apprenticeship and worked up through the various management roles with Instrotec –Two of our Senior Contracts Managers served their apprenticeship with Instrotec, they continued to apply themselves and now, their career has gone from strength to strength and grown hand in hand with Instrotec.

Our apprentices work on muti trade blue chip sites across Ireland and mainland Europe and we set the standard very high in terms of health & safety practices and work practices alike, this is evident across sites. Another feather in the cap is that a number of our apprentices are being awarded for such great displays on an ongoing basis.

Instrotec has implemented incentives for apprentices since particularly since early 20202 encouraging applications and supporting #GenerationApprenticeship in increasing apprentice numbers across trades nationally. We were delighted to be nominated and shortlisted for SOLAS’s employer of the year award 2021 recognizing the time, effort and dedication we give our apprentices.

Such incentives available to Instrotec’ s Apprentices include but are not limited to:

  • Upon registration, all first-year apprentices receive a fully stocked HILTI toolkit in the weeks following starting on site to ensure apprentices are equipped for the job and on the job training.
  • Any Electrical apprentice achieving an overall distinction at off the job phases is eligible for 100e One 4 All Voucher, and likewise if an E&I apprentice achieves an overall merit (as they are on version 2).
  • Plans are in place to set up a dedicated training facility at our off-site stores, whereby any apprentice who requires additional training or indeed 1:1 training on a particular module we have the capacity and space to provide same, this will be available for any apprentice who is struggling to pass any practical’s also.
  • Upon entering the program, every employee is given branded clothing and gym bag – allowing them look professional at all times in branded items.
